André Hattingh is a periodontist who dedicates his practice to the replacement of teeth with dental implants and to the treatment of gum disease (periodontitis).
Periodontists are dentists that have undertaken additional training (4 year Masters degree in our case) in the treatment of gum disease and (in our case) the provision of dental implants. This training allows them to register as a specialist in their field (periodontology/periodontics) with the General Dental Council.
Formal training in a specific field enhances the knowledge and skills of a clinician. Working within a dedicated field on a daily basis greatly improves and develops a clinician's experience and practical application of complex surgical procedures.
