New 3D Cone Beam Technology

We've known for some time the benefits you can achieve by having a 3D scanner, particularly for dental implants.

So after an exhaustive search and looking at a number of machines, we've finally decided on the Cranex 3D scanner from Soredex.

We have been thinking about cone beam imaging for some time, because of the obvious benefits this technology brings to us.

We thought that this particular machine provides us with excellent capabilities for accurate diagnostics, treatment planning and preparation.

3D imaging enables us to see detailed anatomical structures in the finest detail from desired angles.

The machine has two selectable fields of view and four resolutions. It gives us the leading edge not only in implant placement but also:

  • Endodontics
  • Dental and bone fractures
  • Impacted teeth
  • Wisdom teeth - 3rd molars
  • TMJ
  • Maxillary sinus
  • Abnormal anatomy
  • Caries

The new 3D scanner was installed in September and our patients are already benefiting from this great technology.

If anyone would like to come and have a look at what we can achieve, you are most welcome, just give me a call and we can arrange a time and date to show it to you.

We aim to provide both clinicians and patients with an even better referral experience.

Breakfast Symposium A Great Success

18 people attended the breakfast symposium, which was held at the Vine Restaurant, 11 Pound Lane, Sevenoaks, on Saturday the 28th June.

André spoke for around an hour on Factors That Affect The Longevity of Dental Implants - A Clinical Perspective.

Afterwards a lovely breakfast was served and we had a very informal question and answer session, which everyone seemed to enjoy.

We had dental professionals from all over the South East corner of England.

The subject matter certainly seemed to resonate with the dental professionals who attended.

All delegates who attended, received a certificate and one hour's verifiable CPD.

The outcomes of the course were:

  1. To discuss the potential selection criteria that influences the long term success of dental implants.
  2. To illustrate at the hand of a clinical example the importance of a sequenced surgical technique.
  3. To discuss clinical factors that have an impact on the quality of implant surgery and the long term success of an implant restoration.
  4. To review the topic of insertion resistance (primary stability) and to explain how our current way of thinking should change regarding this topic.

We will be holding another meeting later in the year (probably November) and this time we are thinking of making it a little later, maybe a lunch time rather than breakfast, as some people continued from previous page

expressed a preference for a later start, but we would be grateful for any feedback on times for the next event.

Equally we may look for a different location. The Vine Restaurant is an exceptional restaurant and the room we had was perfect for the number of delegates that attended, but if more people would like to attend, we may need a bigger venue.

I would personally like to thank all the people who made an effort to attend the event on a Saturday morning. I know that your spare time is precious and taking the time to attend an event like this is greatly appreciated.

My First Blog

Hello everyone and welcome to my first blog. The website has recently been ported into what is called a "content management system" from the old HTML version and this now enables us to create what we hope will be a regular blog.

This is the area were we hope to keep you informed of what we are doing and where you can interact with us. I hope to use this platform to communicate with colleagues who have referred to me in the past or currently refer their patients to me.

I also hope to keep my patients up to date with the latest techniques we are employing and new developments in the areas of dental implants and periodontal treatment.

Breakfast Morning

I am pleased to announce that we will be holding a breakfast meeting on Saturday the 28th June. We haven't finalised the details at the moment, but I will be keeping you up to date via this blog and postal invitations, which we will be sending out over the next few weeks.

The last one we held was on the 30th November, at The Vine Restaurant, 11 Pound Lane, Sevenoaks. It was entitled "When  Can My Patients Have An Implant".

The event was both well attended and received, in fact the only negative comment we had was that maybe I should have spoken for longer, we'll keep you informed as to the agenda.

If for any reason you would like to attend, but don't receive an invitation in the post, don't worry you can contact me on 01732 471555 and we will try our best to fit you in, although the venue is relatively compact and places will be limited.

I hope that you'll visit the site and the blog occasionally over the next weeks and months.
